Getting to North View
Public transport
Cullercoats is the closest Metro station (less than 5 mins walk) so if you’re getting the train to Newcastle you can jump on a Metro and be there in about half an hour. Local buses stop on the coast road so only a couple of minutes’ walk.
In the car
We’ll send you the postcode and some more details when you arrange your stay.
Accommodation
Bedrooms/layout
On the first floor there are two large bedrooms with king-sized beds. There’s also a smaller room that can have a futon-style double bed set up in it on request. The bathroom is on this floor too.
In the loft there is a large bedroom with twin beds, and sometimes the double futon (we like to chuck all the kids up there together for a bit of a dormitory effect – OK we might refer to it as the Slytherin common room!)
There is also a small study in the loft, complete with desk and monitor.
Bathroom
There is a large family bathroom on the first floor with bath, toilet, sink and shower. We provide all toilet rolls and there’s usually shower gel and hand soap for anyone to use.
Towels
We provide a set of towels per person. More available on request, including larger bath sheets. We ask that you don’t take our regular towels to the beach but if you ask us nicely we’ll tell you where we stashed our beach towels.
Kitchen and laundry facilities
Cooking
There are two ovens and a large gas hob, plus a microwave. We’ve got plenty of pots and pans, utensils, and all the basics you might need like oil, condiments and sauces.
Food shopping
There’s a Co-op about 15 seconds away, open 7am to 10pm. No matter how organised we are with the ‘big shop’, we’re still there a minimum of once a day. There’s also a big Morrisons and Tesco within 10 mins drive. Head into Tynemouth for nice delis etc.
Eating
There is a large dining table which comfortably seats 8, 10 at a push. We’ve provided 7 chairs (don’t ask why the odd number) and there are a few spares kicking round the house. There is also a spare wooden table of the same height as the main table, which lurks in the utility room, so you can expand if you need.
We’ve got enough plates, bowls, cutlery, cups and glasses for about 10 people so you won’t be washing up after every cuppa.
Laundry
No, I know nobody really wants to do laundry on a weekend away but sometimes needs must. We’ve a washing machine in the utility room, and a heated clothes horse up in the small room on the first floor (it is foldable and may have been moved so do check the other rooms if it isn’t there).
Cleaning up
There’s a dishwasher in the kitchen and a washing machine in the utility room. We provide dishwashing and laundry supplies. There’s also various cleaning products on hand in the kitchen, and a freestanding dustpan and brush. The place is professionally cleaned before and after your stay.
Chilling (or working, boooo)
Living room
The cosy living room has two sofas for 4-6 people. There is a bookshelf, dresser and toybox with adult and kid-friendly Duplo, games and books for all to use (please do leave them though as it’s our own stuff!). We’ve left a selection of leaflets for local stuff under the coffee table and if you discover a good takeaway please feel free to leave us the menu!
The TV has a Chromecast so you can hook up your own devices and use your own Netflix etc.
Out back
The courtyard garden is particularly nice in the afternoon. There’s garden furniture, a firepit and a BBQ. We like our neighbours very much so please be mindful if you’re enjoying late night drinks out there.
Internet
We have wifi which is pretty decent, and a wifi extender to make sure you can get online even in the loft. Sign-in details are in the kitchen by the fridge.
Working from ‘home’
If you really must… the desk in the loft has a monitor you can use, and the internet is OK up there. No printer though so you will have to use a local print shop.
Phones
For some reason Cullercoats is a black hole for most networks so have a plan B if you’re going to need to contact people!
Kitchen disco
We’ve got a google speaker in the kitchen so just tell it to play your preferred radio station (or cast your music streaming service from an android device) and you can dance the night away. Quietly though please as we like our neighbours 🙂
Beach time
Feel free to use our buckets and spades (in the utility room) but please don’t take our regular bath towels down there (let us know if you want to borrow beach towels and we’ll be happy to help).
